Bandipora admin asks all gun licence holders to deposit weapons in police stations in seven days --- Representational Photo

The search operations continued for the sixth consecutiveday in parts of Kishtwar district, while the curfew was relaxed for one hour inparts of the district.

During the search operations, police claimed to haverecovered fifty licensed weapons, including three pistols.

   

Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Kishtwar, ShaktiKumar Pathak, told Greater Kashmir: “The search operation was started bypolice, SOG and army across the town in order to find culprits involved in theattack on RSS leader and his personal security officer (PSO).”

“During such search operation, 50 licensed weapons,including three pistols, have been recovered. These weapons should have beendeposited in the respective police stations as per the order passed by thedistrict magistrate,” he said.

As per official data, about 634 licensed weapons had beenissued given to civilian in the district. Among them, only 352 weapons havebeen deposited till date.
