Two girls died in Dewal Dogga village on Monday night as they could not be treated in the local dispensary due to lack of doctors, the locals alleged.
7-year-old Parveen Bano, daughter of Mohammed Shafi, and 19-year-old Abida Bano, daughter of Roshan Din, suffering from diarrohea and vomiting died on Monday night. Though Parveen died at home, Abida died on the way to Mahore hospital.
The locals alleged, “The girls could have been saved if there was a doctor present at the local dispensary, but there is only one pharmacist here. The dispensary also lacks transport facility and we tried carrying Abida on a charpai (jute bed), but it was too little too late.”
On being contacted by Greater Kashmir, CMO Reasi Dr Parvinder Singh said, “The post of doctor is vacant in the Dewal dispensary and the government is trying to appoint someone. Presently, a pharmacist handles the functioning there.” Meanwhile, the CMO also said that he had no knowledge about the death of the two girls.
