Traffic jams irk commuters

After the government restricted civilian traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, unprecedented traffic jams have become an order of the day, commuters said on Thursday. 

 “While theauthorities have modified the bi-weekly ban, restricting it to Sundays only,unprecedented traffic jams on the highway are making people suffer,” thetravelers said.

   

On Thursday, vehicles remained stranded on both sides of theNational Highway from Monkey Morh to Ramban, Ramban to Chanderkote andAnokhifall to Ramsu.

“The traffic jams wreak havoc. It takes several hours tocommute a few kilometers,” the commuters complained, alleging that theconcerned authorities have “miserably failed” in regulating traffic.

At some stretches of the NH-44 , commuters and drivers wereseen regulating traffic as policemen were missing.
