Fresh snowfall across Chenab Valley

The prolonged white winters, which started prematurely with the season’s first snowfall on November 15, continued in March as well, as the entire Chenab Valley, after remaining white for four months, received yet another spell of fresh snowfall on Monday.

Since Monday morning, Chenab Valley recorded the season’s20th snowfall, which intensified the cold wave across the border region andthrew normal life out of gear.

   

As per reports, after remaining partially sunny for twodays, another spell of snowfall lashed Bhaderwah Valley since Monday morning.The adjoining areas of Bhaderwah, including Dooru, Thanhala, Kansar, Jatani,Chinchora, Ashapati, Seoj Dhar, Kailash Kund, Subar Dhar, Shankoja and Jaiewitnessed heavy snowfall, while Bhaderwah town and its peripheral areasrecorded moderate snowfall.

The higher reaches of Kishtwar and Ramban districts alsorecorded a fresh spell of snowfall since early morning.

The people, especially those living in far-off areas,complained of several problems, including snapping of electricity and watersupply. “We have been again forced to protect ourselves from the bone-chillingcold in the otherwise pleasant March by traditional Bukharies (fire places) andKangris (firepots),” they said.

However, the meteorological department has predicted improvement in weather from Tuesday morning.
