Sixty percent of the Kashmiri Pandit migrant voters turned out to vote in Anantnag parliamentary constituency where the last of the three phases of polling was held on Monday.
In today’s polling, out of the total 3603 registered migrantvoters in Shopian and Pulwama districts, 2249 exercised their franchise at 22polling stations set up in Jammu, Udhampur and New Delhi, recording a turnoutof 62.42 percent.
According to Assistant Returning Officer (Migrants),Udhampur, Anirudh Rai, out of 89 registered voters, 56 votes were polled by themigrants. Udhampur registered the maximum 62.92 percent migrant voter turnout.
In Jammu, authorities had set up 22 polling stations for3500 migrant voters of Shopian and Pulwama districts, out of which 2149 exercisedtheir franchise.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Assistant Returning Officer(Migrants), Delhi, Digvijay Gupta said that the polling station at Delhiregistered 28 percent turnout as out of 14 registered voters, only four turnedup to cast their vote. In the first phase of the polling for Anantnagseat, 62 percent registered voters of Kashmiri Pandit community participated inelections for Anantnag district. In Kulgam, where the polling was held in thesecond phase, more than 66 percent migrant Kashmiri Pandits cast their ballot.
