No final decision taken to operationalise new administrative Units: Government

The J&K government on Tuesday informed the Lower House that it was indecisive in making all the newly created administrative units functional in the state.

This was revealed in a written reply by Revenue Minister to a query raised by MLA Shakti Raj Parihar during the question hour of the Legislative Assembly.

   

“In view of the huge financial, manpower and infrastructural constraints involved, no final decision has so far been taken to operationalise the new administrative units created in the state,” reads the written reply from the government.

It reads that the the creation of permanent infrastructure for all new administrative units created was subject to availability of sufficient financial resources.

The government reply also stated that at least 1582 posts – 957 in Jammu and 625 in Kashmir were vacant in the newly created administrative units of the state.

The revenue minister in his written reply informed the House that against the 146 sanctioned post of Naib Tehsildars only 93 were filled and 53 posts were lying vacant in Kashmir region. Similarly, 30 posts of Naib Tehsildars are unfilled in Jammu region as well. Out of 153 sanctioned posts only 123 are filled.

“60 and 139 posts of Pattwaris are vacant in Kashmir and Jammu region. Against the sanctioned strength of 209 and 238 posts only 149 and 99 posts of Pattwaris have been filled in both the regions,” the minister in his reply said.

Similarly, at least 108 posts of junior assistants are vacant in Kashmir and 173 in Jammu.

The sanctioned strength for junior assistant posts as per the reply is 146 out of which only 38 have been filled in Kashmir while as 170 posts have been filled in Jammu against the sanctioned strength of 343 posts of junior assistants.
