Acquaint youth with rich cultural heritage of state: Advisor Kumar to info deptt

With an aim to give a flip to the cultural activities in the state, department of information and public relations (DIPR) on Monday organised day-long cultural events—’Jashn-e-Jamhoor’ in Srinagar and Jammu cities. 

The programme was organised by the cultural unit of DIPR. 

   

Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar, who was the chief guest at the Jammu event, appreciated the efforts of DIPR in showcasing and promoting state’s rich cultural legacy through cultural events.

The advisor hoped that the DIPR would organize more such programmes to acquaint the youth with the cultural treasure of the state and exhorted upon the youth to help in preservation and promotion of local art and culture. He also appreciated the cultural wing of the department to present such cultural and folk items.

Secretary Information, Sarmad Hafeez on the occasion hailed the participant students and artists of DIPR and other institutions for showing such a great spirit of participation. He asked the students and artists to showcase the local folk, art and culture at every platform to keep it alive for coming generations.

In Srinagar, joint director information, Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Hakak was the chief guest on the occasion.

The programme began with a patriotic song ‘Hum hoonge kamyaab’ presented by students of Government Girls Higher Secondary, School Kothi Bagh.

Famous humorist and artist, Nazir Josh and artists from Firdous Dramatic Club presented skits—leaving the audience enthralled. On the occasion young singers including Altaf Sahil, Rehana Akhtar, Zahida Taranum along with their troupe presented several musical numbers, generating a round of applause from the audience. Jan Baba along with party mesmerized audiences with folk song, while as Zubauda Ali, another young singer presented Kalam-e-Habakhatoon.

On the occasion, Muhammad Ashraf Hakak said that Jammu and Kashmir have diverse cultural traditions—saying that the DIPR has been organizing cultural activities across the three regions of the State from time to time.
