IS ANY BODY LISTENING?

Srinagar locality victim of ‘official apathy’

We the residents of Wahab Sahab Lane, old Palpora Chowk, Srinagar want to bring our plight to the notice of higher authorities. Our locality is just 3.5 kms away from cement bridge at Nallamar Road but it is very disappointing that authorities have neglected this area. Ironically, while the authorities are planning to introduce underground metro rail service in Srinagar our locality despite being in the heart of the city and within the municipal limits has been ignored by the people at the helm. The link road leading to our colony is in a dilapidated condition. To add to our problems, last year a water supply pipe was laid down by the concerned authorities over the road. No effort was made to lay it deep under the road at the first place.  These pipes have been damaged due to the movement of trucks and tippers. The leakage of these pipes often leads to water logging. The concerned department rather than repairing these pipes permanently just takes temporary measures to prevent the water leakage.

Since the road is not metaled it becomes impossible to drive private 4-wheelers / 2-wheelers in wet conditions. Even in dry conditions, it is a Herculean task to drive a vehicle over this road. The only vehicles which are able to ply on this road are tippers and tractors due to their high ground clearance and large tyre sizes. During rains and winter season, this road is water logged and literally the road turns into pure wet mud. We are even unable to walk on the road during wet conditions, let alone driving any vehicle. Ironically, just a couple weeks earlier, all the adjacent lanes of this area were metalled barring this one due to reasons best known to the authorities.

We once again appeal the concerned authorities to replace the damaged water supply pipe section and make it underground to prevent any damages in future and get the road leveled and metalled so that we are relieved of this nuisance for good. We hope that authorities would act before the onset of winter season.

Aspirants appeal to J&K Bank Chairman

We appeal to Jammu and Kashmir Bank Chairman to relax the eligibility criteria for the recently advertised posts of probationary officers in the bank.  We were waiting for bank to announce these posts for the past 3 years. But putting the percentage bar ( i.e. 60% of marks) has made many of us ineligible for this job opportunity. In previous notifications bank had fixed 50% marks for post- graduates and 55% marks for graduates.

We request the J&K Bank officials to revisit the eligibility criteria and provide us some relaxation in percentage bar so that we could sit in the exams.

Thanks and regards

Buchpora colony seeks Governor’s intervention

We the residents of Usmanabad-B Umerhair Buchpora are facing immense hardships due to the lackadaisical attitude of the authorities.

The drain was constructed in our colony two years ago and  since then no work has been done by the concerned authorities to repair the damaged road. Our cars have become knackered. We are even unable to walk properly. Besides it also poses a risk to our children as only a slight shower makes the road muddy posing a threat to anybody, children or elderly. We request Governor Satya Pal Malik  to direct the concerned authorities to get this road repaired at the earliest.
