Module of newly-formed militant outfit busted in north Kashmir, arms recovered: Police

Jammu and KashmirPolice on Monday claimed to have busted a module of a newly-formed militantgroup, The Resistance Front/JK Fighters and recovered a huge quantity of armsand ammunition from Keran sector of northern Kupwara district.

A spokesman saidthat Sopore and Kupwara units of police and the army carried out an operationafter receiving information about illegal delivery of arms and ammunition bysome “anti-national” elements  at district hospital Sopore andapprehended four persons.

   

Upon questioning,it came to the fore that they were working under one Pakistan-based person, whois operating a newly formed militant organisation known by the name TRF/JKFighters, said the spokesman.

He said a hugequantity of arms and ammunition including eight assault rifles, magazines,pistols and hand grenades were recovered during the operation.

“Six people have been arrested so far. A case has been registered and investigation is on,” said the spokesman, adding that the outfit was operating under the patronage of Lashkar-e-Toiba group.

He said the main purpose of the group was to accumulate the arms and ammunition and to go for target killings of politicians and police personals.
