Hr Edu department seeks monthly non- performance report of teaching, non-teaching staff of colleges

The Higher Education Department (HED) has sought the monthly non-performance report of the teaching and non-teaching staff from the degree colleges by assessing the monitoring activities conducted by the concerned faculty in the Colleges across J&K.

The department through an official communication has asked the director Colleges J&K to furnish the consolidated report of overall performance of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Physical Teacher Instructors and Librarians to the higher ups in the department.

   

The department has devised a format and asked the director colleges to submit the performance of the faculty on 10th of every month whose performance is below satisfactory.

As per the format, the performance will be marked as excellent if the concerned faculty member will be shown 90 percent involvement in four or more activities.

“The performance will be marked as Good for having involvement in three or more activities and it will be termed as satisfactory if the faculty member will be having his involvement in two or more activities,” the document reads.

Involvement in less than two activities will be termed as not satisfactory, the document reads.

The performance report will be furnished by the concerned principals of the colleges and submitted to the nodal Principals of Degree Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir division.

As per the proforma, the department will assess the total number of periods and practical classes assigned to a particular assistant and associate professor per month.

The college has to submit the performance of the concerned staff member about his involvement in the University or College students and research activities.

These activities include his behavior in delivering administrative responsibilities as Head, Chairperson, Dean, Director or Co-ordinator and Warden besides other posts.

The performance of the faculty member will be assessed by calculating the total number of semester wise classes and practical classes assigned and percentage of classes delivered by the faculty member.

The department will also assess the semester wise previous years result percentage of the faculty member as well.

“The decision to seek a monthly performance report of the teaching and non-teaching faculty was taken in view of the direction received from the General Administration Department,” an official said.

The department will also assess the examination and evaluation duties assigned to the faculty member by the college or university or attending the examination paper evaluation.

“The department will evaluate the number of exam duties performed and number of answer sheets evaluated besides the contribution of assistant or associate professor in setting the question papers as well,” the official said.

The government will also evaluate the performance of the teaching faculty on account of his engagement in student related co-curricular, extension and field based activities such as student clubs, career counseling, study visits, student seminars and other events, cultural, sports, NCC, NSS and community services.

The teaching faculty will be also accountable for actively guiding Ph.D. students evaluating the performance on the basis of conducting minor or major research projects sponsored by national or international agencies.

The department will also evaluate the performance of the teaching faculty on the basis of their publications in national or international journals.

“The faculty member should have at least one single or joint publication or UGC list of Journals,” the document reads.

The performance of the teaching and non faculty members will be also evaluated on the basis of their participation in organizing seminars, conferences, workshops and other college or University activities.

The sports activities conducted by the concerned PTI or College Director of Physical Education & Sports or Convener Sports will be also evaluated while furnishing the performance report.
