Collecting details on Kawa’s arrest: Government

The government on Wednesday informed the legislative assembly that details regarding the arrest of Kashmiri Bilal Ahmad Kawa by the Delhi police recently are being collected.

Responding to a point raised by MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar in the House, minister for agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone (Hanjura) said that Kawa was arrested by the Gujarat ATS and special cell of the Delhi police at terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi international airport on 10 January at about 6 pm when he arrived from Srinagar by a Jet Airways flight (9W 638).

Further details in this regard are being collected by the government, the agriculture minister said.

Meanwhile, legislators from National Conference staged a walkout from the assembly over the arrest of Kawa, on Wednesday.

Unsatisfied with government’s reply, NC legislators Ali Muhammad Sagar, Mubarak Gul and Shamima Firdous staged a walkout from the House.

“We have got more details from media reports than your statement,” NC’s Ali Muhammad Sagar responded to the agriculture minister’s statement.
