SALE OF UNIFORMS, STATIONERY: Do not interfere in sale of uniforms, stationery: CEO Rajouri to private schools

The education department on Sunday issued a circular, asking all private educational institutions in Rajouri district to refrain from interfering in the sale of uniforms and other stationery items to students.

A circular, issued from the office of chief education officer, Rajouri, Choudhary Lal Hussain, read, “The CEO office has received a number of complaints that shops are established in the premises of private schools for supply of notebooks, books, uniforms and school bags, or private schools propose shops to parents for purchasing the same.”

All heads of institutions are directed to submit an affidavit within a fortnight, ensuring that no shop shall be established in the premises of the school for supplying notebooks, books, uniforms and school bags, nor will they propose any shop to the parents for purchasing the same, the circular states.

The circular also states that the results of only those schools will be confirmed by the department, which will submit the affidavit within two weeks, while the rest of the schools will be “responsible to bear the brunt”.

The CEO Rajouri, while talking to Greater Kashmir, said, “There are complaints that some private schools are interfering in the purchase of uniforms, school bags, notebooks, books and other stationery items. This burdens the parents and we are trying to ensure that such practice is not allowed.”

“We will take stern action if any private school will be found indulging in the practice, while the results will be only confirmed for those schools whose heads will submit the affidavit as mentioned in the circular,” he said.
